Rey Randal - Puerto Rico
Reynaldo Roque was born in 1983 in Chicago, Illinois to Portorican parents. Reynaldo Roque AKA “Rey Randal”, was noticed for having the upmost passion and desire for singing from a very early age, 6.
He settled on the city of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, where he lived with his mother and brothers. At the age of 7 he started doing auditions and giving that extra mile hoping somebody from the media would discover him, but that never happened. In 2004 he took part in the Misters of Puerto Rico Model contest where he managed to captivate his audience in the talent portion of the contest, stealing the prize of the night, “Mister Best Talent Model”. Rey Randal has auditioned for spots in musical groups such as MDO and “Los sabrosos del Merengue”, among others.
He had been working with two different managers in Puerto Rico recording a series of songs aimed at making up his first record. Unfortunately the project fell through. At the age of 25 this young singer and song writer moved to the city of Miami, Florida in search of a new opportunity. There, he took second place in the “Rumbo al Exito 2008” (On the road to success), sponsored by Walmart, Coca Cola, and cyloop.com.
In December 2008, he took part in the 94.9FM “Mega Estrella” (mega star) contest. 300 contestants started and each week people were eliminated until they got down to the final 3. Rey was one of those finalists and ende up taking 3rd place in the contest, but more importantly, he won the hearts of the audience and was able to grow his fan base.
Today, Rey Randal continues to write new material and search for a manager and record deal. This young man of Latin decent defines his music as pop, ballad and R&B with a fusion of hip hop. His style and unique voice along with his stage presence makes him a complete artist.

Interview - Know our finalists
1. Do you like to sing in the shower? What songs you usually sing?
Yes, since I was very young, singing in the shower helps me ease my stress. Well, a little bit of everything, I always do a mini-concert, I sing songs that I have written and when I don’t, well I just sing whatever comes to mind, I also love to sing church music.
2. If you could trade places with somebody, who would you do it with?
I am very comfortable with who I am, even with all of the obstacles I have encountered. But, if I had to pick somebody, I would say my Mother. That way, she would have my youth and she wouldn’t have to work so hard. Plus, I would get to have her a longer time.
3. When you were a kid, what did you used to do to make your mother angry?
Well, why don’t you ask me what I haven’t done…It’s hard to pick one thing. I do remember she used to send me to take showers, and I would finish in like 2 minutes. She got furious because she said that there was no way I took a real shower.
4. What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?
Well, I think I’ll keep the most embarrassing thing to myself, but the second one happened during my father`s funeral. It was snowing and it was very cold. I slipped, fell on the ice, and peed on myself. I was so embarrassed that I cried, and even though I was really young I do remember feeling ridiculous.
5. What was one of the happiest times in your life?
One of them was when my nephews were born.
6. What are you most afraid of?
First of all I fear and respect God and I guess like a lot of people, I´m afraid of not being able to provide for my family… and rollercoasters
7. 7. Did you have a nickname when you were a kid? And what was it?
Yeah my friends used to call me “Reynaldo Roque cabeza de bloque” (Block-head Reynald Roque) and also “Rey Randal”, still used to this day.
8. 8. If you could ask for one wish, what would it be?
I wish I could buy my mother and brothers a new house.
9. 9. What place would you like to visit?
The entire world, but if I had to say only one, it would be Spain or Italy. I don’t know, its just that I want to see so many places in the world and I hope God allows me to do so one day.
10. 10. If you were to be stranded on a deserted island, what book, movie, person and/or food would you take with you?
That would be very interesting, I think I would take the book “the secret”, the movie would be “The Notebook”, the person would have to be Megan Fox (love her), and the food would be white rice with red beans, chicken breast with onions and chips.
