Rafael JaramilloRafael Jaramillo - México
Rafael Jaramillo is a descendent of Mexican parents. His mother, Teresa Arvizu, is originally from Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and his father is originally from Mexicali, Baja. His family always tells him of the time that they discovered his singing talent. Back then, his mom used to watch a soap opera known as “Tu o Nadie” (You or No one), starring Andres Garcia and Lucia Mendez, and the theme song for the soap was “Corazon de piedra, (Heart of Stone)”. Rafael used to sing parts of that song during his family gatherings.
His mother (widow at the age of 31 and with 7 children) pulled her kids through with her singing talent as well. Pregnant with Rafael, she had contracts with several local family restaurants and had no option but to continue singing until her 8th month of pregnancy. Rafael’s brothers say that is the reason why he inherited her talent.
Any chance Rafael had to sing, he would…family reunions, weddings, sweet sixteens, etc. He also participated in school contests and the church choir. He has always fought to achieve his dream and has been fortunate enough to participate in contests such as Objetivo Fama (Objective Fame), La Academia (The Accademy), and all kinds of local events.
At 24, he´s always had a very clear sense that music comes from his heart and soul. He is very aware that there are legions of people out there with whom he shares the same dream. He also knows that in this business only the most determined and tenacious people make it and get the opportunity to showcase their talent which he thinks is a blessing from God.
He is very proud to be part of a humble family led by a widowed, single mother that has dedicated her life and has sacrificed herself in an effort to raise her kids into good men and women. Optimism is his mom´s favorite word and with it, he has managed to give bad times a good face.
Rafael is very grateful to have this opportunity to represent Mexico in Batalla de las Americas and he promises give 110% every chance he gets to sing. He promises to represent Mexico with responsibility and pride!
