Miguel Alberto Cigarruista Osorio was born August 9th, 1982 in Chitre, Panama, but he was raised in La Villa de los Santos, Panama.
He was drawn to music at a very early age when he joined the Miguel Leguizamo Foundation for the Rescue of the Dances, specifically the Corpus Cristi Dances. This is a festival that takes place every year and is celebrated in La Villa de los Santos. Miguel says that even after all these years he keeps participating in this festival because he “feels so attached to this type of music which is native to Panamá.”
In his teen years, Miguel joined the Santos Villanos band along with his brothers Alberto and Trini. They performed cover songs from famous bands such as Mana and Soda Stereo.
The band recorded ten tracks with their own original music, but the record didn’t make it to store shelves.
In 2006, a huge opportunity presented itself, Miguel was one of eleven contestants to compete on the first season of “Vive la Musica” (live the music) where he finished in second place.
The talented Panamanian once said: “This show has helped me to realize that the place I love is the stage, from where I can show people what I feel.”
“In 2009, Miguel was presented with another chance to represent his country on the new reality show “Batalla de las Americas”, a contest with 21 contestants from 15 countries.
