Walter Quesada – Costa Rica

Walter was born January 7th, 1988 in San Jose, Costa Rica. He was raised in the indigenous community of Guauitil in the Guanacaste province. He had an affinity towards arts at a young age, but he didn’t live in an area that offered a place to study or develop one´s artistic skills.

At age 9 he joined the chorus in church. At age 13 he traveled to the province of Heredia to live with his father who is an artist. There he enrolled in his new school and joined the theatrical club. He also joined the chorus from the Costa Rica National University and traveled across the country performing with Vocal Professor Ana Salas. At the age of 17 he decided to quit in order to finish his studies.

He enrolled at the National Technical University of Costa Rica at 19 to study acting, theater, and television with Professor Marco Ayala. Juggling school and work proved to be too much for Walter at the time so he dropped out. Today he´s studying Social Planning at the National University of Costa Rica.

Walter will be representing Costa Rica in “Batalla de las Americas”.

Yes, I love it. I sing anything that comes to mind I love music by Alex Ubago or Bob Marley.

Martin Luther King, because of his ideological way of thinking and the way he fought for human rights and worried about others.

3. When you were a kid, what did you used to do to make your mother angry?

When I was a kid, I was very troublesome so my mom normally had plenty to get angry at me for, but somewhere around my tenth birthday she got some immunity against me and kind of figured out a way to tune me out.

I´m always happy, but the two occasions that stand out are the birth of my kid brother Fabian that brought a special kind of light to my life along with a best friend, and the other was when my mom showed up on my town´s spiritual reunion that I went to and never expected her to be there. Also every time I can get to meet new people are happy days for me.

Yes they used to call me “cabeza de perro” (Dog Head) I´m not sure, but I think is because I´m very hard headed.
